The Roma Street Parkland environment offers some wonderful educational experiences for both children and adults that will encourage learning in a number of different ways.
The Parkland setting gives students and teachers the opportunity for a hands on interaction with nature. Students can observe the effects of changing seasons, see subtropical plants in a forest setting and look out for resident wildlife. The Parkland also provides a stimulating location for art classes, horticultural and environmental studies.
The Parkland offers groups the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities including guided walks, school holiday programs and informative presentations with a horticultural focus that can be held on or off site.
The School Holiday Fun program is designed for children 4 to 12 years but often caters for the whole family. To find out about upcoming school holiday activities, download the latest School Holiday fun flyer.
Vacation care and school groups of 6 or more students are strongly encouraged to arrive early for the school holiday program with bookings required for the free guided walks.
Educational walks & activities
Roma Street Parkland offers a wide variety of free specialised guided walks. The walks vary in length and time and we are more than happy to tailor each walk to suit each school group’s needs, interests and abilities. If required an Auslan interpreter can be arranged free of charge. For more information on our specialised walks, including Auslan interpreter walks, visit the specialised guided walk section.
Roma Street Parkland staff can provide specialist knowledge of a wide range of areas including:
- General overview of the Parkland;
- Parkland heritage and past use;

Staff offer free information presentations to schools, educational institutions and community groups. These presentations can be on site at the Roma Street Parkland meeting room or off-site at your educational institution facilities.
